'I don't know what makes me feel the way I do but I'm a fairly nostalgic person. Sometimes when I see an object, like an old book for children or a product at the supermarket that reminds me of my youth I always get hit by these strangely deep emotions. Indeed stories, like the ones that my grandmother or my parents would tell me when I was young, always feel so special to me, even now. They have become embedded in a deeper part of my mind, forever to timelessly connect me to the magic of youth.

I try to tell stories. Melody is really important to me. The Beatles will always be one of my favourite bands. I like it when a melody feels compelling and well written. A nice melody feels like it always existed. Like a tree or a rock or the creek and the sea. I remember an old cassette that we used to listen to a lot during car journeys with my family. 'She loves you'. What a beautiful melody.

I made this record in January and it was really cold in my little home studio. It was a unique moment in my life as I was feeling really disconnected and alone. I felt the weight of all those changes that had come by, one after the other, and when looking back, I almost couldn't recognize my life anymore. So I was thinking about the sea like I often do when I hear these floating ambient melodies. I felt like a mariner, far from home in the middle of the ocean that was missing his home and his loved ones. And he wanted to go home but before he could he needed to make this journey. I later recognised that this is clearly a similar plot to 'The Odyssey'. And there we were with another memory of my childhood days when I loved these epic tales and I remember a beautiful illustrated book of the Odyssey that resonated with me and still does.

I live in the house where my grandmother lived. When I was young and both my parents were working I was always there. And now that I think about it, my studio is in the same room where I always was back then. There was an old sofa with a floral pattern, tapestry on the walls, a small table, a television, a bookcase with some books about knitting and an encyclopedia, adorned curtains and a lot of paintings and pictures here and there. I can almost feel the way I felt back then in such a place of memory. Things always change. We always change. Nothing makes sense sometimes. Just love and our old time memories.
